Project Details
Leaks can cause various issues in buildings, resulting in costly repairs. To address this, we collaborated with waterproofing expert Ross Taylor to develop a series of animations that showcase best practices in building design and construction. We embraced Ross's extensive knowledge and quirky sense of humor to create a set of engaging and informative animations.
Project Overview
The Approach
For this animation, we embraced Ross's quirky side, incorporating pop culture references and fairytale storybook. We blended Monty Python-inspired cutouts with the flooded basement story. The central character, the fairy god plumber, strives to rescue a miserable Cinderella from being trapped in the basement, mopping up leaks. We had a lot of fun creating this animation, and we hope you enjoy it.
Style
Ross takes waterproofing very seriously, and he has a guiding philosophy: "We believe that waterproofing is best defined as the collection, redirection, and drainage of water. It is not merely the selection and installation of waterproofing membranes and sealants. Using this definition, we prioritise the development of flow paths and drainage layers in new building designs."
In the course, participants will learn essential design principles to prevent water leaks and leaching in buildings. While the course focuses on residential apartment buildings, the principles apply to all building types.
