ELECTRIC VEHICLE SAFETY FOR FIRST RESPONDERS
2023
Powering up EV safety knowledge.
We collaborated on an animation that introduces first responders to key hazards and best practices for electric vehicle emergencies, ensuring safer outcomes for everyone on the road.

Target Audience: First responders

Project Details
Electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming more common on our roads, and it's crucial for first responders to be equipped with the knowledge to handle situations when things go wrong. Understanding and managing these hazards will help minimize risks to responders and the community, fostering confidence in new technologies. This animation sits within a bigger course and plays the role of introducing the main hazards and risks at electric Vehicle incidents.
Project Overview
The Story
The course material can be quite technical and dry so we wanted to complement it with some character. We decided on a stylish cartoon approach where the seriousness of the situations are rendered clearly with electric current, flames and smoke. We wanted the information to be clear even without the voice over so we developed a clear language of icons drawing on universally understood symbols to represent hazards and technical information. It was a lot of fun to learn about the whole process, we hope you like it too.
Style
We started with a narrative of driver losing control on a desert road, setting the scene for various dangers and risks that a first responder would face when arriving to this situation. The rest of the film is broken down into chapters running the learner through the key risks and how they are unique to electric vehicles.
