Approach
Running a building business in a world of fluctuating material prices and shipping expenses can be extremely challenging. That's why we were excited to created a series of three animations to provide guidance and recognise the crucial role home builders play in our communities. Commissioned by Construct NSW, the project, titled "Building a Business that Lasts," offers a comprehensive guide to building a resilient business. The result is a fresh and vibrant set of films that validate builders' struggles and offer practical steps for success.
Project Overview
This animated video series follows Joe, a building company owner stressed by rising costs and industry challenges, facing the risk of closure without adaptation. The first video covers the foundational principles of resilience, emphasising vision, flexible strategies, and adaptability. The second video offers practical steps like diversifying income, investing in technology, and promoting continuous improvement. The final video features real-life case studies of businesses overcoming challenges through innovation, strong leadership, and community engagement, offering actionable insights for viewers.
Style
Our vibrant animation showcases colorful scenes aimed at resonating with builders and acknowledging the challenges they face. We created Joe, an everyday builder in overalls, as a relatable character with familiar struggles and anxieties about managing a team and overcoming various obstacles. Humorous icons and exaggerated failures add a light-hearted touch to these challenges, while providing concrete guidance through bullet points.
