An apprentice’s story
Organisation: TAFE NSW
Target Audience: General Public
Platforms: Public Speeches
TAFE NSW is all about embracing the potential of Artificial Intelligence and preparing for the future that it will bring. Have you ever thought about how a hands-on vocation like building could benefit from the assistance of AI. This short film was designed as a silent animation to be shown in presentations to convince TAFE’s stakeholders, partners and future students about the benefits of AI for different professions.
Meet Lilly a perfectionist plumber apprentice with a problem and every plumbers nightmare, the difficult client. And we mean so difficult that their complaints seem to scream out of every abusive sentence of their email. Introducing Tradie AI a new AI assistant designed specifically for Trades people. Tradie AI analyses the email and provides a guidance to write a sensitive and pragmatic response helping to rebuild the relationship with client and set out a plan to resolve the issues. An AI tool that would be useful around the world.
We designed the visuals of this story to clearly reflect the characters emotional journey since there was no dialogue, music or sound to help build the tone. We went for a hand crafted aesthetic with bold colours. Lilly is a wide eyed cheerful plumber in a vibrant world until things go wrong. As her anxiety rises we muted the colours and placed Lilly in the dark void below a house, so her emotional experience was reinforced by the setting. We rendered the AI as a glowing friendly robot with a toolbelt and meat pie in hand, lighting up the dark void and coming to Lilly’s assistance.
